Intel gave a press brief about its road-map of upcoming storage and Intel Optane memory in Korea. Intel showed the upcoming consumer and data center storage and Intel Optane memory products. It includes Intel’s 660p M.2 NVMe SSD, Workstations Optane Memory DIMMS and future road-map. As per the Intel’s road-map of 600p 1TB M.2 SSD will be available at starting price more than a $100 bucks. You can grab it right now after applying this discount code EMCTEVC22 at $85.

Intel Optane Memory

Intel’s 660p NVMe SSD is a QLC 3D NAND flash with SM2263 controller. The 660p NVMe SSD has a 5 year limited warranty. It will have 220,000 IOPS/writes, 150,000 IOPS/reads, approx 1.8 GB/s speed and 200 TBW (terabytes written).  DRAM having 1MB/4GB flash with a 2263 controller. It weighs 550mg with 64 layers of QLC flash.It’s a PCIe-3 Gen 4 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD.

Future Roadmap

The 665p will be also a QLC NAND flash with 96 layers and a launch date in the first quarter of 2020. The high end model will have a whopping 144 layers of QLC NAND flash.

The Optane DC will be in-between the NAND flash and RAM modules with up-to 512-GB/stick. It’s like having a RAM which will store data even you turn the PC’s power off. It’s a slow DRAM. In spite of all Intel’s Optane have it’s own position in the market.  Also it’s proven too pricey for the consumer market.

SSD Features

The Intel new 660p NVMe SSD will be a good choice for large amount of data storage. It’s specially for content creators and for other large data storage and scalable. In conclusion, Intel Optane memory, 660p and 665p NVMe M.2 SSD upcoming lineup will provide more options. We will review the products when launched.
